When it comes to where you’re going to stay while you’re away, there are loads of different things you could be after. Perhaps you’re after a luxury hotel to commemorate a special occasion, or maybe an eco-friendly hotel that prioritises sustainability is what you’re after. Yet, wherever we travel, location is always a huge factor in making any accommodation decision. And if you’re London-bound, then DoubleTree by Hilton London – Victoria can’t be beat for easy access to all of the capital’s most sensational tourist attractions.
While this stay was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
Fresh off the train from a stay at Buxton Crescent Spa Hotel in the Peak District, I arrived at Victoria Station and checked my reservation with the hotel. It said that the property was just a two-minute walk, so I set my timer and headed off to see. I was really shocked when I was standing outside barely a minute later.
If you’re visiting London to explore the city, if you’re in town for work, or if you’re just passing through and need to be close to Victoria, then a stay at DoubleTree by Hilton London – Victoria is a no-brainer. But what else does the hotel have to offer?

This four-star London hotel has recently had a glow-up, with the lobby and restaurant on the ground floor being revamped. The new-look interior feels fresh and modern with a collection of curios stored on a cleverly crafted light-wood shelving unit that cleverly separates the lobby from the rest of the floor.
I had a really warm welcome from the team at reception, and the first thing they did was hand me a warm cookie, which helped to set the tone of the stay. This is something that they do at DoubleTree properties the world over: a lovely treat for newcomers and a familiar gesture for regulars.

We stayed in one of the mezzanine rooms, which have also recently been upgraded, and I was really impressed with the size of our King Deluxe room. The bed was large and comfy, there were plenty of both plug and USB sockets, and there was a huge TV jam-packed full of apps and easy to cast onto. A selection of teas and a Nespresso machine rounded out the amenities, alongside a few bottles of water. There was no minibar in the room, and we didn’t miss it, but the mini fridge was handy to keep some snacks and drinks in.
The design of the room felt modern, with hanging pendant lights complementing parquet flooring and pops of browns and oranges. I liked that the art on the walls was made up of photos of the local area.
The bathroom was small but with everything you need, including a rainshower and Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. I was looking forward to lounging around in a big, comfy robe, so I was a little disappointed to discover that the robes were very small.
Something else that seemed quite small to me was the wardrobes. Despite having two, they were both awkwardly sized, and while they could fit everything my partner and I needed for a weekend, you’d be pushed to fit weeks’ worth of clothing that needs to be hung. There were plenty of shelves for additional items, though.

If you’re looking for a meal, head for lunch or dinner at Terminus. We enjoyed our dinner, where a selection of small plates was on offer. We enjoyed the Tiger Prawns as a starter before I tucked into a perfectly grilled Salmon. The team were friendly and efficient and were happy to make substitutes on our orders.
Breakfast is also served in the restaurant space and includes a range of continental options alongside standard breakfast fare like sausages, bacon, and hashbrowns. Included in the breakfast option are made-to-order eggs (poached or omelettes), but if you’d like something like Eggs Royale, then you need to pay extra.
Coffee is only served through machines, and if you want to upgrade to a barista-made latte or a cappuccino, then again, you will need to pay more. It was great to have a selection of non-dairy milks available, but the addition of a few special items like a homemade chia pudding or some flavoured overnight oats would have made the experience even more enjoyable.
Room service is available 24 hours, with classics like Margherita pizza on offer. There’s a £5 tray charge and an optional £12.5% service charge.
The hotel has a small gym available to guests that has cardio machines and a selection of weights available. There’s a concierge to help you plan your exploring and umbrellas on hand for when the weather inevitably turns.
This hotel is all about location and is within walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster, and plenty of parks. Thanks to its proximity, you’re also able to easily jump on the bus or tube to explore everything that London has to offer, plus it’s value for money with rooms starting at just £189 per night.
