Located in the Gulf of Thailand, off the coasts of Cambodia and Vietnam, Phu Quoc boasts pristine beaches, dense jungles, and diverse marine life. Situated in the southwestern part of Vietnam, the beautiful island has emerged as a popular tourist destination for those seeking a tranquil tropical getaway. We recently stayed at New World Phu Quoc Resort and discovered an oasis of sea and sand.

While this stay was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Review of New World Resort Phu Quoc

The island of Phu Quoc is home to a variety of local industries, including fishing, pepper farming, and pearl cultivation. In recent years, it has seen significant expansion in the tourism industry, with a range of luxury resorts luring in more affluent visitors. Among them is the luxurious New World Resort Phu Quoc, a family-friendly destination located in the south of the island that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and contemporary living.

The room

The resort boasts 375 guest rooms and suites that are created with contemporary furnishings and elegant decor. Designed with all the modern amenities to ensure that guests have a comfortable stay, the rooms offer breathtaking views of the ocean or the lush green landscapes.

The resort also offers private villas that are perfect for families or groups of friends. The two-floor villa we stayed in was extremely spacious, featuring a large living room, well equipped kitchen and three spacious bedrooms, outdoor showers, its own pool and a garden.

Pooltime beckons

One of the highlights of the resort is its expansive outdoor swimming pool, known as one of the largest on the island. Set amidst lush tropical gardens and offers stunning views of the blue ocean, the pool is surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas, where guests can relax and soak up the sun. The pool also features a swim-up bar, serving refreshing ice-cold cocktails and other thirst-quenching drinks, as well as fresh Vietnamese spring rolls and delicious fried chicken alike. We easily spent an entire day relaxing by the pool during our stay.

It’s is also equipped with modern amenities such as underwater music, which enhances the swimming experience. Designed with groups in mind, the pool caters to both adults and children, making it a safe and relaxing haven for family holiday-goers.

The resort has a range of activities that guests can enjoy. The white sand beach is just steps away, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. The resort also has a fitness centre, yoga room, tennis court, and golf course for guests who want to stay active. The resort also has a kids’ club, which is perfect for families with young children.

I’d highly recommend its early morning sunrise meditation and yoga session by the beach. The practice, suitable for both beginners and experienced yogis, allows guests to enjoy the cool breeze, the sound of the waves, and the beautiful colours of the sky as the sun rises. It’s a great way to start the day on a positive and peaceful note.

Food and drink

The resort has a wide range of dining options that cater to all tastes, serving a variety of international dishes like pizza and local cuisine that satisfies both adults and kids. At its main restaurant The Bay Kitchen, guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with live cooking stations, fresh seafood, and a wide selection of desserts.

We loved our dinner at LUA – Grill & Bar by the pool with ocean breeze under a sky of stars, enjoying a sumptuous grilled seafood platter topped with Phu Quoc oysters, flower crabs and lobsters. The in villa dining was also a great option in the comfort and privacy of one’s own space. Our favourite dishes include the stirred fried mushrooms, wagyu beef and coconut curry. For those who are interested in learning more about Vietnamese cuisine and its use of fresh herbs, the property has its own herb garden with a variety of herbs and vegetables such as basil, lemongrass, mint, coriander, and chilli.

While we stayed inside the resort throughout our time there, it also offers a range of excursions that allow guests to explore the island’s natural beauty. The property is located near the town of An Thoi, which is known for its night market and local food.

Spa time

Be sure to schedule some time at the spa

The spa offers a range of treatments that are designed to rejuvenate and revitalise the mind and body, including traditional massages, body scrubs, facials, and other treatments that use techniques to promote relaxation and healing. We recommend the body scrub, which uses natural ingredients such as sea salt, coffee, or coconut to exfoliate the skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth, as well as the manicure services.

With its natural charm and laid-back atmosphere, New World Phu Quoc Resort is a fantastic destination for those who want to enjoy luxury living while exploring the natural beauty of Phu Quoc. With its excellent facilities, beautiful location, and friendly staff, the hotel makes a perfect choice for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday, especially for families.
