Located in the bustling Chow Kit neighbourhood of Malaysia’s capital, The Chow Kit is the first property from Ormond Hotels, a hospitality group that is rethinking the notion of luxury for the contemporary traveller.
Paying homage to the area in which it resides, the hotel blends tradition and modernity, and the design was inspired by the late-night revelry that lurked in the surrounding bars and alleys in the 1970s and 1980s.
The romantic lobby is filled with tufted banquets, lounge chairs and layered rugs to evoke the feeling of a social parlor. Guestrooms and suites feature luxury linens, timber floors and marry a range of colours that add to the richness of the design. A curated selection of artworks from local artists and those from Southeast Asia can be found throughout the hotel.
The Chow Kit Kitchen feeds hungry travellers with a mix of both Malaysian and international delights. Inspired by local kopitiams, hero dishes include Tomato Laksa Soup, Rendang Beef Burger and The Chow Kit Fish & Chips, with tandoori marinated fish. And at the bar, guests can enjoy a range of signature cocktails and refreshments.
Guests can sign up for yoga classes on the roof of the hotel where classes are conducted in the yoga pavilion. A range of spaces suitable for meetings and private events are also available throughout the property.
