Bangkok’s hospitality scene has reached new heights in recent years. The Thai capital has seen a slew of new openings, while existing properties have been sweeping up numerous international accolades. Quietly, many hotels are revamping their offerings to keep up with and impress increasingly discerning guests. One such property is Como Metropolitan Bangkok. We recently checked in to find a contemporary, wellness-focused stay.

While this stay was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Review of Como Metropolitan Bangkok

Como Metropolitan Bangkok Thailand review exterior of hotel
Italian designer Paola Navone was tasked with the interior redesign

Tucked into a quiet corner of the Sathorn business district, Como Metropolitan Bangkok has been around for over two decades. But in October 2025, the wellness-oriented hotel marked a new chapter by reopening after a six-month transformation. The revamp was masterminded by Italian designer Paola Navone, who’d previously collaborated with the hotel brand on Como Point Yamu, its resort in Phuket. I’d never visited the previous iteration of the Bangkok property, but as soon as I stepped into the lobby, it was immediately recognisable as part of the Como brand.

The first impression is of angles and depth—soaring ceilings, straight lines, an imposing stone counter for check-ins, marble flooring, metal pillars, and stark shades of black, grey, and white. To soften the austerity, there’s design-forward furniture with plenty of curves and texture (the oversized woven seat-backs are mesmerising), and tongue-in-cheek art installations lending pops of bright colour. So far, so Como: sleek and contemporary, though latticed bamboo above the check-in area, reminiscent of traditional Thai screens, offers a nod to local heritage. Taken as a whole, the space is calming—appropriate, since the hotel brand’s raison d’être is to enhance guests’ wellbeing.

Contemporary comfort

Interiors feature a minimal design palette with subtle nods to the location of the hotel

Como Metropolitan Bangkok’s 137 rooms echo the modernity and angles of the lobby, though rendered in a minimalist, white-hued palette. At first glance, it’s almost too clean. But then the details come into focus: hand-finished surfaces, woven rugs, sculptural ceramics (including Thai vases), and lanterns hand-woven from natural fibres. Suddenly, there’s an interplay of textures and shadows that adds depth to the room. Still, I’m convinced the soothing whites and generally unfussiness of the room conspired for some of my best sleep in weeks.

The sleek, all-white bathrooms feel both relaxing and contemporary

Of course, the surprisingly huge Metropolitan Room comes with all the expected mod-cons, too. A sprawling built-in sofa that almost functions as a day bed, set between windows framing city views, and set by a massive coffee table and modular dining/worktable. A king-sized bed dressed in white Egyptian cotton and bookended by floating black nightstands. And, my favourite, a well-designed bathroom with his-and-hers vanities, and a wet area featuring an open shower and a standalone bathtub stocked with Como Shambhala amenities.

Food and drinks

Como Metropolitan Bangkok Thailand review Nahm heritage menu
Be sure to book a seat at Michelin-starred Nahm in advance of your arrival

Meals are a highlight of stays at Como Metropolitan Bangkok. Dinner at Michelin-starred Nahm, that stalwart of Bangkok’s dining scene, is a revelation. The Heritage tasting menu by Chef Pim Techamuanvivit presents a succession of dishes offering a refined spin on regional Thai cuisine. The decadent dishes—including pan nah thong kae (a richly spiced lamb curry served on a crispy Thai crepe) and gaeng pu bai cha plu (a flavoursome southern turmeric curry with blue swimmer crab)—offer beautifully balanced flavours and textures and a rare approach to local cuisine, which was a highlight of my stay.

Breakfast in the hotel’s bright, all-day-dining restaurant presents Como Cuisine, the brand’s take on lighter, healthier nourishment. Read: whole foods, low sugar, and free from salt and artificial nasties. The carefully curated buffet is full of yoghurts, fruits, and fresh juices—though there are cheeky trays of pastries in the corner. A menu supplements this, offering an array of hot dishes with Western and Thai influences. I skipped the eggs in favour of pad sew ew, and the Thai noodles laced with egg and chicken are incredibly satisfying (if slightly sinful in this temple to wellbeing).

Is there more?

Como Metropolitan Bangkok Thailand review wellness workout
Try one of the yoga sessions on offer or head to the well-equipped gym during your stay

No stay at a Como property is complete without a visit to their signature spa, which, as Como Shambhala Metropolitan Bangkok, includes 10 zen-inducing, whitewashed treatment rooms, a dedicated yoga studio, a state-of-the-art gym, and—overlooked by nahm—an inviting outdoor pool.

The spa offers a programme of daily activities, and the 8 am yoga session is the perfect way to ease into the morning. It’s ever so slightly challenging, nicely waking the body into full mobility and flexibility. There is also a selection of journeys available, such as COMO Shambhala Sleep, which includes a range of treatments and rituals to aid with a good night’s rest.

The treatment menu here includes several Thai-inspired options, naturally, but it’s hard to go past the signature Como Shambhala Massage. The custom-blended oils paired with carefully calibrated techniques released my tense muscles, offering a great way to find mental balance and physical rejuvenation in the middle of a busy day.

Final thoughts

The Como brand isn’t about splashy luxury, and that’s exactly the point. Como Metropolitan Bangkok is a place of minimalist, contemporary, quiet luxury—with subtle hints of its location—where guests can gently relax in a cocoon, thoroughly focused on generating an elevated sense of wellbeing.

Would I stay again? Absolutely.
