A property that feels more like a village than a resort.
Vietnam holds a wealth of unforgettable experiences, from the bustling cities of Ho Chi Minh to coastal getaways like Cam Ranh Bay. And one of our favourite spots is the charming island of Phu Quoc. We were thrilled to be invited to experience the launch of one of the newest luxury hotels in the region, Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc, a resort that offers something for every type of traveller.
While this stay was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
Nestled just a step away from the breathtaking Bai Dai Beach, Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc beckons with an impressive amalgamation of opulence and natural beauty. With an expansive accommodation portfolio boasting 1378 exquisitely appointed rooms and 21 villas, this luxurious haven seamlessly marries contemporary comfort with the island’s lush tropical charm, setting the stage for an unrivalled retreat in Southeast Asia.
From the moment I stepped foot onto the property, I was engulfed in an experience that captivated my senses and heightened my appreciation for the finer things in life. The grand entrance, adorned with sleek lines and contemporary architecture, immediately set the tone for the journey that awaited. As I made my way through the lobby, I couldn’t help but admire the seamless integration of the ocean theme with the modern opulence, creating an ambience that was both sophisticated and welcoming.
All rooms offer an intimate balcony, inviting guests to savour the panoramic views of the azure ocean or the verdant surroundings. Upon entering my room, I was welcomed by the expansive view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a gentle, natural light that enveloped the space.
The interior design, a fusion of neo-classical influences and contemporary comforts, emanated a refined elegance that immediately put me at ease. The king-sized bed, adorned with fresh linens and plush pillows, guaranteed me three nights of unparalleled comfort, while the generously proportioned en-suite bathroom, complete with amenities, provided a personal space for relaxation. Generally, the tastefully designed interiors carried a sense of understated elegance, with its cosy furnishings and soothing colour palettes, ensuring a stay that was both comfortable and convenient.
The resort’s culinary offerings were varied and extensive, showcasing a delectable fusion of international cuisines and local flavours. Whether indulging in the buffet at the elegant on-site restaurant, or unwinding with expertly crafted cocktails at the chic bar overlooking the pool, each dining experience was a celebration of culinary artistry and taste.
The Atlantis Restaurant, renowned for its authentic Italian fare and delectable oven-baked specialties, stands as a beacon of culinary excellence. With its excellently priced menu, the restaurant offers great value for money.
At Nautilus 1 and 2, I was treated to a lavish buffet experience. For breakfast, the spread included an assortment of freshly baked pastries, cheeses, and made-to-order noodle soups, ensuring a wholesome start to the day. Additionally, the breakfast offerings featured handcrafted Vietnamese coffee, skillfully prepared by the dedicated staff, offering me a rich and invigorating morning pick-me-up that perfectly complemented the delicious spread. During lunch and dinner, the buffet showcased a vibrant selection of gourmet salads, sushi, pastas and an array of other international delicacies that satisfied my appetite for diversity.
For a dynamic atmosphere, the Brew Bar, with its inviting bistro-style ambiance, serves up a delectable fusion of gastronomic delights and crafted beverages. Not to be overlooked is the Chinese restaurant, where traditional flavours meld seamlessly with contemporary culinary artistry, providing guests with an authentic taste of the Orient.
Beyond its elegant accommodation, the Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc presents a world of entertainment and relaxation within its sprawling grounds. The presence of the Corona casino elevated the resort’s allure, offering all guests (including myself) a chance to indulge in the thrill of gaming amidst a backdrop of unparalleled luxury. Furthermore, the expansive outdoor swimming pool, fringed by swaying palm trees provided an idyllic setting for a leisurely afternoon swim.
Naia Spa and Wellness, a sanctuary of rejuvenation, beckoned with a comprehensive menu of indulgent treatments and wellness rituals, ensuring that all leave feeling revitalised and refreshed.
A stroll down the vibrant shopping street within the resort premises was a delightful experience, as it allowed me to peruse a selection of boutique stores, where I had the opportunity to discover a trove of local treasures and souvenirs to commemorate my stay. Meanwhile, the captivating presence of a pianist along the corridor added an extra layer of sophistication and elegance to the overall ambiance, with the tinkling sounds of music complementing the atmosphere perfectly.
For families, the dedicated kid’s club ensures that younger guests are fully engaged and entertained, while their guardians can savour moments of repose and leisure. In line with its commitment to offering a comprehensive and enriching stay, the Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc also embraces an indoor movie theatre within the Brew Bar, catering to guests seeking an cinematic experience.
Beyond the resort’s confines, a myriad of attractions await. Vinwonders Phu Quoc amusement park, located nearby, promises an immersive experience tailored for the entire family. Within the park, I had the opportunity to explore the distinct turtle-shaped aquarium, a remarkable feature that showcased the mesmerising beauty of the ocean within its expansive walls. The aquarium’s five immersive worlds, including the Wandering Sea, Ocean Treasure, Ice Palace, Giant Kingdom, and Shark Realm, offered unique displays that left a lasting impression.
Moreover, our itinerary included a visit to the Vinpearl Safari, Vietnam’s largest semi-wildlife park, where I marvelled at the awe-inspiring collection of exotic animals, including majestic giraffes and lions in their natural habitat.
This was followed by an exploration of the Grand World, a bustling city of festivals, where we were treated to a captivating performance that added another dimension of cultural immersion to our journey. This nightly performance entitled “Vietnamese Quintessence”, intricately weaves together vibrant dance and music, presenting a compelling narrative that celebrates Vietnam’s rich heritage. Overall, the performance was a dazzling and eye-opening experience that kept us all suitably entertained.
