A landmark of Singapore’s skyline, Marina Bay Sands hardly needs an introduction. But with the launch of Earth Series, the latest addition to its Where Mind & Body Connect wellness program, the brand is showcasing its ability to innovate consistently.
While this experience was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
We review Marina Bay Sands’ Earth Series
Sky-high wellness
Marina Bay Sands’ new Earth Series invites guests to enjoy an hour of wellness, in a rotating schedule of disciplines, at sunset in an unusual location. Depending on the day, participants might be doing mat pilates, breathwork and soundbaths, or yoga, for example.
There are a few wrong turns on our way up to the space tucked along the side of the Expo and Convention Centre, but eventually, we turn a corner and happen upon the aesthetically curated terrace lined with flower-festooned arches and planters, along with yoga mats laid out in pairs.
We’re here for a Power Vinyasa session, though before we start, we’re given a pair of massive silent disco headphones, the instructor’s cues come through these to avoid having to shout across the space and risk losing instructions to the wind.
It quickly becomes clear that the class is designed for all levels, making it accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy the novelty of a yoga session backdropped by views of Marina Bay Sands’ iconic three-building structure disappearing into the orange and pink hues of sunset.
All six participants enjoy the hour-long session, though a long-time practitioner mentions the flow could be improved with fewer breaks, and by using pose names rather than directions for body placements and movements.
Nevertheless, as we leave the terrace, we’re relaxed, and the endorphins are hitting.
A hit of nutrition

The interior at Wakuda
While meals aren’t included in the Earth Series, it’s worth seizing the opportunity to enjoy a post-session dinner at one of Marina Bay Sands’ award-winning restaurants. This evening, we slip into a banquette table at Wakuda, located within the main hotel lobby.
Created by Chef Tetsuya Wakuda, this is a refined space rendered in elevated Japanese style. The menu here focuses on marrying French culinary techniques with the Japanese philosophy of Shun, which prioritises seasonal ingredients.
The meal begins with one of the signature hand-crafted cocktails to whet the appetite. The Snow Monkey (Monkey 47 Gin, Gentian Aperitif, Shiso, Yuzu, Egg White, Kinako) and Yuzu Garden (Haku Vodka, Yuzu, Elderflower, Lime) are a delightful introduction to the restaurant’s approach to mixology.

Guests can expect the finest ingredients from the Chef’s Menu
Tonight, we’re sampling a bespoke Chef’s Menu composed of highlights from Wakuda’s dinner menu. Each dish proves to be a careful balance of seasonal ingredients prepared with precision to allow natural flavours to shine through.
From the elegant Flan (a spin on the traditional chawanmushi, made with Japanese white corn) and zesty Canadian Lobster (marinated in citrus and vinegar) to the meticulous selections of sushi and tempura, each of the dishes was exquisite. The real highlight, though, was the charcoal-grilled Wagyu cubes served with seasonal vegetables. They were perfectly fired to practically melt in the mouth.
A decadent Basque Cheesecake served with genmaicha ice cream, kinako tuile, and caramel rice puff brings the meal, and the evening, to a sweet finish.
The verdict
One of Marina Bay Sands’ Earth Series wellness sessions, paired with a superlative dinner at one of the complex’s many restaurants, is an experience worth indulging in at least once, for residents and visitors alike.
