The vibe

As I stepped into the grand lobby of Grand Hyatt Bali, I was immediately struck by the sense of awe-inspiring grandeur that surrounded me. From the soaring ceilings adorned with intricate Balinese carvings to the cascading water features that whispered tales of ancient traditions, every detail of the resort exuded an air of timeless elegance.

As I made my way to my room, I marvelled at the sheer size and scale of this expansive paradise. It resembled a colossal maze filled with fascinating discoveries tucked away at every twist and turn. And with 636 guest rooms and suites, each boasting authentic Balinese design elements and modern amenities, there was no shortage of luxurious accommodations to choose from. Whether overlooking the tranquil garden or gazing out onto the azure ocean, the rooms have some seriously sweet views.

The rooms

Grand Suite
The Grand Suite features Balinese design

Each room is adorned with traditional touches, including a balcony overlooking the lush garden or sparkling ocean, inviting guests to unwind in comfort. The authentic Balinese design of my room was a testament to the resort’s commitment to providing an immersive cultural experience. The Grand Suite featured a large bathroom, while deluxe amenities included high-speed internet and Grand Club privileges.

My room, which boasted floors adorned with teakwood and cool marble, opened up into a private balcony. From this vantage point, I was offered views of the Indian Ocean and the lush tropical gardens. As an extra touch of indulgence, we were treated to toiletries by Balmain, offering a sensory experience that elevated our bathtime.

The food

There’s no shortage of excellent food in Bali, but if you find yourself wanting a night in, or to fuel up before heading out for the day, you won’t be disappointed by the hotel’s offerings. There are seemingly endless food options within the Grand Hyatt Bali. From the comforting home favourites of Italian, Japanese, and Indonesian cuisine to the exotic flavours of traditional Balinese dishes, every meal was a feast for the senses.

And with an all-day bar, lounges, and afternoon tea available, there was always an opportunity to indulge at any hour of the day. In short, the culinary offerings of Grand Hyatt Bali truly stole the show.

The allure of the resort’s All-Inclusive Food and Beverage package promised a culinary journey like no other. Each meal was meticulously crafted to delight even the most discerning palate. And with free-flowing beverages throughout my stay, we were kept suitably satisfied.

Salsa Verde offers a quintessential Italian beach grill experience, drawing inspiration from the picturesque beach surroundings to seamlessly infuse a casual ambiance into both its design and menu. Serving a multi-generational dining adventure, the restaurant presents artisanal Mediterranean cuisine in an enticing open-kitchen format. We indulged in wood-fired oven pizzas, handcrafted pastas like the pappardelle funghi, and a delectable array of Italian specialties like grilled lamb chops and burrata, all prepared using the finest locally-sourced ingredients.

For the best ambience, The Watercourt offered a unique dining experience amidst lush tropical gardens and serene water features. The restaurant pays homage to the iconic water palaces of Bali by seamlessly blending traditional architecture with stunning fountains, intricate carvings, and crystal-clear pools. Offering a harmonious fusion of international flavours and authentic Indonesian cuisine, The Watercourt impressed us with its lavish buffet breakfasts. Breakfast offered options for every mood: there’s something light and fresh (toast, fruit, hummus), regional (indonesian noodle soup), or more indulgent — waffles and pancakes freshly made on the spot. This venue also provided an idyllic backdrop for our sumptuous dinner, which included succulent grilled chicken legs, drizzled with sweet soy sauce and adorned with crispy shallots, accompanied by a delectable peanut sauce (Satay Kampung) and Gulai Pakis Udang, showcasing grilled prawns nestled in creamy coconut milk alongside tender fern tips.

Grand Hyatt Bali review Nampu restaurant with chef and fire
Get ready for a theatrical teppanyaki experience at Nampu

The real treat however, was our dinner at Nampu, where the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine came to life amidst open kitchens and a captivating sushi bar. We had the privilege of indulging in the exquisite artistry of teppanyaki where our meal was a real spectacle of flavour and skill, showcasing the culinary craftsmanship of the chef. After a theatrical show of glittering pyrotechnics, our flame-grilled meal was served to us. The aromatic garlic vegetable fried rice was complemented by succulent half shell lobster drizzled with aioli sauce, and the meal culminated in the tender perfection of Tajima beef rump steak. At Nampu, each dish was a triumph, an experience that transcended the ordinary.

The facilities

Kriya Spa
Kriya Spa will have you relaxing in no time

When you’re not dining or drinking, the spa offers a good place for recovery. As I entered Kriya Spa, a wave of tranquillity washed over me, enveloping me in a cocoon of serenity amidst lush tropical dens. The air was scented with fragrant flowers and the soothing sounds of nature filled my ears, imbuing me with a sense of peace. My therapist led me to a private villa, where I was pampered with a soothing massage. Her skilled hands nimbly worked their magic, releasing tension from my muscles and easing my mind into a state of bliss. Each stroke was expertly executed, drawing upon ancient Balinese healing traditions to nourish my fatigued body.

After my massage, I continued to explore the resort’s extensive array of recreational facilities. While traversing the grounds of Grand Hyatt Bali, I was struck by its architectural splendour. Conceived as a water palace with lakes, landscaped gardens, and lagoons, the resort showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of Bali. I was most drawn to the enormous shimmering pools, their inviting waters beckoning me to dive in to escape the sweltering heat of the afternoon. I ended up spending hours swimming and lounging by the water’s edge, basking in the vibrant ambience.
