You know we love to share the deets of new hotels we think you’ll love, and, despite the pandemic, there have been a bunch of beauties of late. From the Arca in Hong Kong to Six Senses Ibiza and One&Only Portonovi, the hotel world is sparkling with new properties calling our name. At Hotel Elysia in Paris, Maison Número 20 have transformed a pre-existing hotel into a chic hideaway for art and design lovers. Take a look.
Sitting inside a beautiful Haussmann building, Hotel Elysia was inspired by the elegance of the French Art de Vivre. Across the spaces, Oscar Lucien Ono (Founder and Designer at Maison Número 20) has used a range of materials and textures to create a world where opposites both attract and complement each other.
Embracing Art Deco accents, cold and warm tones play against and with each other as matte and shiny finishes work together in harmony in the first 5-star hotel for the Inwood Group. Formerly known as Champs-Elysées Plaza thanks to its close proximity to the landmark, the new hotel prioritises art and art history in its design.
“Paris has always seemed surprising and inspiring to me. With this hotel, I wanted to create a decorative journey, a romantic story that plays with the codes of Parisian cliches,” Oscar Lucien Ono explains.
Expect a romantic spirit at Hotel Elysia, but interpreted in a modern way. From the sculptures by François Mascarello that greet guests at the entrance to the oversized paintings in the living rooms reflecting the architecture of the city, and wonderful hand painted headboards in the guestrooms that bring a further layer of holistic decoration, this is a place for those who appreciate story-telling.
The fireplace lounge was designed as a space for meetings and warm exchanges. In a nod to Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti, bronze has been used throughout, offsetting the large armchairs and marble fireplace, on which replicas of Giacometti’s Standing Women sculptures find a home.
With 33 guestrooms and eight suites, each features paintings where the most emblematic places of Parisian romanticism, including gardens, rooftops, and bridges, can be spotted. Fresco, moiré carpet, patina and gilding, woodwork and plaster, a blend of patterns, and materials that intertwine create welcoming spaces that guests won’t want to leave.
Le Bayadère Bar and Restaurant pays subtle homage to the art of dance, particularly, to the famous ballet its name refers to. Here, you can indulge in refined French cuisine and some of the finest drinks in the capital.
Work it out in the fitness centre, spend time in the Sauna or Hammam, or relax deeply with a facial or massage at the Wellness Experience by Olivier Lecocq.
