Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has announced a mega partnership with Viator, the world’s leading marketplace for travel experiences, offering its Sonesta Travel Pass members access to more than 400,000 curated tours, activities and excursions around the world.

The move reimagines what hotel loyalty means. No longer confined to earning points through overnight stays, Sonesta guests can now collect rewards while exploring the cities they visit, whether that’s a candlelit catacomb tour in New York, a wine tasting in Saint Emilion, or a day trip to Kosovo (once home to none other than Dua Lipa, FYI).

Earning points on every travel experience

Through the new partnership, Sonesta Travel Pass members will earn five points for every dollar spent on Viator experiences. And until 31 December 2025, members will also receive 10% off all bookings using the promo code SONESTA10. Basically, that next cooking class or guided hike’s more tempting than it ever was.

“Sonesta’s partnership with Viator reflects our commitment to evolving beyond traditional hotel loyalty programmes,” says Elizabeth Harlow, Chief Brand Officer at Sonesta International Hotels. “We’re extending the Sonesta Travel Pass experience outside the hotel room to include the rest of the journey.”

Checking in to local discovery

Sonesta’s portfolio spans 13 distinctive hotel brands across the upper-upscale, lifestyle, midscale and extended-stay segments. Now, with Viator’s seamless integration, guests can enrich their stays with meaningful local experiences while continuing to earn points redeemable across the Sonesta network.

At The Royal Sonesta Chicago River North, guests might pair their stay with a 90-minute architectural cruise that reveals the city’s design legacy. At The Shelburne Sonesta New York, they could explore the New York Catacombs by Candlelight, uncovering a hidden piece of history beneath the city’s streets.

A world of experiences at your fingertips

For Viator, the collaboration offers an opportunity to reach a global audience of experience-driven travellers. “Experiences can transform any trip into a lasting memory,” says Sarah Dines, Chief Commercial Officer at Viator. “We’re thrilled to partner with Sonesta to bring our tours and excursions to their Travel Pass members, from authentic local moments to skip-the-line access at world-famous attractions.”

Whether you’re pasta-making in Tuscany or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, Viator’s catalogue makes it easy for travellers to curate itineraries filled with discovery, and now, to also be rewarded for doing so.

Reimagining loyalty for Generation Next

As loyalty programmes across the industry evolve, Sonesta’s approach is refreshing. The Sonesta Travel Pass has already earned a large following for its simple earning structure, generous redemption rates and member-only perks such as complimentary upgrades and welcome gifts. The addition of Viator brings an experiential dimension that aligns perfectly with the desires of modern travellers, i.e. those who value authentic connection, cultural immersion and spontaneity. Loyalty’s no longer just about where you sleep; thanks to Viator, about how you experience the world when you’re up.
