The region’s sleepy fishing villages and idyllic beaches became known as an R&R location for US and Allied soldiers engaged in the Vietnam War. And its popularity as an international beach destination, particularly popular with European visitors, began in the 1970s.
Pattaya remains an international favourite with big brand hotels, glitzy shopping malls, a variety of entertainment options, including theme parks, excellent golf courses, and those beaches and related water sports. Previously, all the action happened around central Pattaya and the crescent-shaped 3.5km-long Pattaya Beach.
When people now refer to Pattaya, they often include the four neighbouring beach destinations immediately south of Pattaya City. 2. The Monttra Pattaya

If it’s a beachside retreat nestled amid loads of greenery that you’re after, then Dor-Shada Resort by the Sea should be on your radar. We like the Pool View Balcony rooms, some of which also offer sweeping vistas of the beach.
There’s a lot to enjoy here, including a six-hole golf course, a great spa, and kayaks and toys for the beach. The restaurant serves tasty Thai dishes alongside a range of international fare, and when we stayed, the team arranged a barbecue party for us as the sun went down.
