We review Oasia Resort Sentosa, Singapore and discover a haven for wellness-conscious travellers
Relax, rejuvenate, and refuel.
Relax, rejuvenate, and refuel.
Sentosa Island, Singapore‘s most popular and closest island getaway, is just 15 minutes from the civic centre. The island offers abundant entertainment and recreational options and an excellent selection of resorts. Ideal for city escapes, staycations or self-care and romantic island retreats. We recently visited a relatively new addition to the island’s accommodation offerings, Oasia Resort Sentosa, and found a unique property perfect for the whole family.
While this stay was complimentary, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
Located across from Imbiah monorail station and operated by Far East Hospitality, Oasia Resort Sentosa neighbours sister properties: the family-oriented Village Hotel, the couple-friendly Outpost Hotel, and The Barracks Hotel for history lovers.
With a total of 191 rooms and suites, the hotel incorporates a three-storey heritage-listed structure built as an army barracks in 1940 and a six-storey modern annexe. Inside the double-height lobby, an impressive green wall greets guests as does the signature Oasia scent of orange peel, lemongrass, pepper, ginger, and Japanese cypress.
The resort features five room categories. Premier Rooms, Spa Suites, Suites, and two Duplex Suites with their own rooftop pool are all found in the new Palawan wing with its Nordic clean lines and light timber tones. The original heritage wing goes by the title Wellness Sanctuary and is where the expansive (40-48 sqm) high-ceilinged Junior Suites are found.
My Junior Suite was like an upmarket home away from home with its comfortable modern décor offering a living room with sofa and working desk. The separate bedroom with super comfy king bed, and a spacious bathroom with a deep soaking tub, rain shower and a walk-in closet. In keeping with the wellness theme, toiletries are Australian-made Biology Smart Skincare. The Pillow menu ensures even the most sensitive sleeper can find their perfect fit for the night. The ceiling fan above the bed provided a nice alternative to the air-con while sleeping.
Oasia’s signature teas take pride of place alongside a Lavazza coffee machine as complimentary in-room amenities as does glass bottled still and sparkling water. A tray of healthy snacks like nut mixes, dehydrated fruits, and coconut water add to the wellness theme. Workout videos are available on demand through the two in-room smart TVs. Or you can rent Lululemon mats for in-room yoga, meditation, or fitness sessions. Les Mills on-demand workouts loaded on an iPad are also available for loan.
Bedrock Origin is the all-day dining choice here. Breakfast can be enjoyed either indoors, or on the shaded veranda. Bedrock Origin is the younger sibling to Singapore’s award-winning steakhouse Bedrock Bar & Grill however Bedrock Origin differs from its elder with dishes from the land and sea given equal weight.
In the resort’s central courtyard between the two hotel wings is a 22.5-metre clear glass walled infinity pool adding a little theatre for swimmers and observers. Neighbouring properties in this Far East Hospitality cluster of hotels are all accessible to Oasia guests and expand your entertainment, recreational and dining options.
The resort’s Wellness Lounge and in-house Oasia Spa can be found adjacent to the lobby. Here talented therapists deliver Asian-inspired treatments ranging from shiatsu and Thai massage to bamboo body scrubs or a high-tech “forest bathing” experience in the meditation lounge.
Oasia Spa has partnered with luxury organic skincare expert KOTOSHINA from Japan and SPARITUAL for their sustainable and vegan beauty products. The organic Biology toiletries found in the guest rooms are also available as refillable if you bring your own containers or in a recyclable bottle at the Spa’s Biology refill station. The Spa also incorporates a Tea Lounge where your spa journey typically starts. Following treatments, guests can take advantage of the Meditation Lounge or Sauna.
A unique feature, particularly for guests in the Wellness Wing are Wellness Hours. A changing roster of educational hands-on workshops like balm and body scrub–making sessions in the Wellness Lounge are available. A knowledgeable staff member guided me through the whole process, patiently explaining the benefits of each ingredient and recommending easily sourced materials as a replacement when repeating the steps at home. What an outstanding take-home – my own jars of self-made healthy souvenirs.
Oasia Resort Sentosa provides all the hotel facilities a visitor to Singapore might need, has Sentosa’s recreational facilities on the doorstep, and can also be a quiet haven of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation if that is what you are looking for.
